How does it work?
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is a treatment for many common and debilitating symptoms that are often overlooked by medical providers: exhaustion, stress, foggy thinking, weight gain, sleep disturbances, and so much more. Often, people with symptoms like these are suffering from hormonal imbalance. BHRT is a simple method for correcting these complex issues through effective hormone balance therapy.
The symptoms of hormone imbalance can be frustrating to experience, but BHRT benefits can help relieve those symptoms and allow you to live a normal life. Our approach to hormone replacement therapy is bioidentical and custom-compounded to each client’s unique physiology, allowing our clients to get the most out of HRT benefits as possible.
Pre- and Post- your BioTE process:
No fasting is required in advance of the insertion. One week before the insertion, if possible, stop all NSAIDs (aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, naproxen sodium, etc.). Please note that at a minimum, BioTE requires a comprehensive blood panel before insertion. We will discuss this before you begin your bioidentical hormone plan.
After pellet insertion, it’s best to eliminate lower body exercise. You can walk, but extraneous activity is not recommended. Swimming, hot tubs, and bathtubs are to be avoided. However, showers are permitted. After removal of the bandage, normal activity may resume.
What can I expect during the treatment?
At your visit to CC Medical, we will test your current hormone balance. Based on your comprehensive consultation and blood work panel, we will determine if you are a candidate to balance your hormones through BioTE. Afterwards, we will schedule a quick follow-up appointment for your pellet therapy insertion so that we can balance your hormones and return you to optimal health.
Hormone pellets are placed under the skin and release bioidentical estradiol and testosterone consistently into the bloodstream. During the in-office visit – which only takes a few minutes – you will be brought into the exam room and we will numb the insertion site. We most commonly insert the pellet in the upper buttocks. A small incision is made for pellet insertion, and once inserted, the insertion site is covered with a small bandage.
What are the results?
Since the pellets are bioidentical and contain nothing more than the hormones your body naturally produces, the pellets are completely dissolved and absorbed, leaving nothing behind.
Some patients start to feel the benefits of hormone therapy in as little as 2-4 weeks, but full hormone optimization can take up to 6 months, depending on your needs as well as the treatment plan that we’ve decided to proceed with.
